our Reviewer KATE O’BRIEN says:
‘Resting my bike in its stand, I wander along the flag-flanked trail and find a quiet space in the ayurvedic herb garden. The staff are always smiling, always ready to help and heal’
our Reviewer rosie Walford says:
‘The mind can’t keep track of four hands in a massage, of so much pleasure, fragrance and pressure on the move. It can only surrender and receive’
Queen of Retreats says:
‘Nature is the undisputed star of the show here, from lush jungle interior through neatly planted herb gardens to powder white sands and a turquoise fish-filled lagoon. We loved the private 6.30am Wake Up To Wonder session - a mindful exploration of the island at dawn, followed by a series of sun salutations and breathing exercises’
Experiences
Inspiring, authentic effective bespoke ayurvedic immersions for one, two or three weeks are kick-started by a detailed ayurvedic consultation and feature tailored meals, focused massages and private yoga and meditation classes, all carried out under the careful supervision of ayurvedic physicians, yogis and therapists.
Shorter three to five-day yoga therapy courses see a talented yoga therapist and doctor offer holistic support for lifestyle issues such as diabetes, thyroid issues, stress, hormonal imbalance and weakened immunity and much more. You’ll learn bespoke breathing techniques and postures to manage your own wellbeing long after returning home.
Or just come to relax and rest deeply with ayurvedic massages and multi-therapy Alignment Rituals that imaginatively combine wraps, scrubs and steams using high quality herbal oils and poultices with herbs freshly picked from garden. For starlit serenity in a secluded jungle setting, The Om Supti Night Spa Ritual encourages restful sleep.
Swim, snorkel and relax on an astonishing white beach flanked by a 2km lagoon; cycle sand paths beneath mature tropical foliage; kayak in fish-filled waters; follow the Yoga Energy Trail or continue your planetary wellbeing journey with manta ray and dolphin safaris or by transplanting your own coral reef or helping to rehabilitate injured sea turtles at the Marine Discovery Centre.
While you retreat, immerse your teenage child into ground-breaking marine conservation with the onsite Trainee Marine Savers programme - an opportunity for them to work alongside resident marine biologists and become part of the life of the ocean.
Spaces
The three-acre AyurMa health haven has thatched-roof treatment pavilions cocooned in tropical jungle and is surrounded by an ayurvedic herb garden full of medicinal plants.
Night Spa treatments are exquisitely staged by candlelight in a jungle clearing round a vast banyan tree enveloped by the sounds of nature.
Yoga takes place on a beautiful deck over aquamarine waves, connecting you to the ocean’s flow or in an open pavilion in the heart of the Ayurma jungle.
You’ll find bean bags, hip outdoor furniture, infinity pools and bars dotted around the island, with citronella-infused flares lighting the way by night.
Choose a water villa, beach villa or oceanfront bungalow - all are secluded and some are as large as a family home. They come equipped with down pillows, sensuous linen, a giant bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, natural products, personal deck with pool and top quality yoga mats.
Sustenance
The service, setting and style are impeccable at the four restaurants which focus on international cuisine: Italian, Middle Eastern, Asian-inspired and a grill. There are numerous vegetarian and vegan choices available.
Meals are plentiful and delicious, with a clever ayurvedic food labelling system (to help guests eat according to their dosha) on all restaurant menus. If you are on a cleaning programme, you will have your own lighter dishes.
The buffet-style breakfast offers pancakes, juices, eggs and Indian dosas made to order, mature European cheeses, charcuterie, tropical fruits, Asian dumplings, curries and much more. Or choose eggs (cooked many ways), avocado on chunky sourdough, fresh juices, smoothies and fruit salads and great coffee at the ocean-front Italian.
Lunches and supper offerings vary with the restaurant and include lobster, prawns and fresh local seafood, wagyu steaks, vibrant curries and lighter options such as seafood carpaccios and salads with the creamiest burrata cheese. Decadent puddings might feature molten chocolate pave, a variety of homemade ice creams and creative fruit platters.
Wines, spirits and cocktails, mocktails and freshly made smoothies are available, plus quality tea and coffee. There is also a swim-up bar and the option for floating breakfasts in your private pool.
