Four Seasons Bali at Jimbaran Bay

KUTA SELATAN

Wondrous, unrivalled luxury on a high energy, spiritual island

Set in 35 acres of tropical gardens Four Seasons Bali at Jimbaran Bay cascades down to the Indian Ocean. This luxurious sanctuary is steeped in Bali’s magical energy and serene nature. Stay in gorgeous villas and residences, rest and relax in the waterfront spa, enjoy water sports on the ocean, step up at the fitness centre and immerse yourself in rituals, ceremonies and culture.

our Reviewer Teresa Levonian Cole says:

‘There is so much on offer you could spend a fortnight here without repeating the same treatment twice or – as I did – have just a couple of treatments while enjoying the less specific healing benefits of the retreat’

Queen of Retreats says:

‘You can try something new here, such as woodcarving or Aksara Bali calligraphy (the elaborate, 47-letter script used in religious texts). The lobby is designed to reflect the ocean so it’s the best place to see the sunrise. You’ll be mesmerised by the two-storey waterfall pool – water cascades from the infinity pool above’

Experiences

Come for a 3 or 5-night Elevated by Energy programme to reinvigorate you or mix and match from a range of treatments with expert healers and therapists that include massages, facials, body alignments and rituals like Blessings of Bali – a blend of yoga, Balinese massage and cleansing.

Dip in and out of whirlpools, plunge pools, a sauna and steam, join a meditation session, hang out on daybeds by the beach or join a beachfront yoga class. There are also classes with a yoga master - in residence for two weeks every month.

A morning bike ride will take you to nearby Balangan Beach, you can go kayaking, catarmaran sailing and rafting nearby or work out at the gym with a personal trainer.

Sample local culture and join the resident priest and priestess for daily practices at the main temple, take a tour of shrines and discover the history of statues, carvings and artworks. Make your own gebogan (fruit tower), take part in a fire blessing, join an art class or watch an enthralling Balinese dance performance.

Spaces

The Healing Village Spa is a leafy, tranquil oceanfront space. The Illume Room is a surround sound spa suite with alchemy crystal singing bowls for a total immersion in light, sound and colour frequencies. Reinvigorate yourself with thermotherapy in the Longevity Garden.

The verdant gardens have surprises around every corner, with more than 300 shrines dotted around, as well as statues and carvings.

The Sundara Beach Club is a good spot to relax, with comfy daybeds aplenty, an oceanfront pool and elevated dining areas.

Inspired by traditional Balinese architecture, there are two, three and four-bedroomed villas in a private, stone-walled courtyard. Each villa offers spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, lush gardens, a private pool and its own sun terrace.

With their own private pool and tropical gardens, nine grand residence villas are located in an adjoining enclave just steps from Jimbaran Beach. Ideal for families and groups of friends, they offer privacy and seclusion.

Sustenance

Breakfast at Taman Wantilan includes a vast choice, from cold cuts, salads and cheeses, to noodles and curries. For dinner at Taman Wantilan expect Asian and western dishes, like seafood teppanyaki and lamb rack.

At Alu casual poolside dining offers a lunch selection of Buddha bowls and platters. Favourites include Tasmanian salmon tataki, Turkish dips and traditional churros. Jala serves fresh-to-order, à la carte, seafood-themed dinners, such as seafood salad and jumbo prawns cooked inside bamboo.

Once a week you can immerse yourself in Bali’s rich cultural heritage on the temple grounds, where you can enjoy Babi Guling (roast pig) Megibung-style (communal), fresh from the spit. You can also dine in your own villa – choose from an extensive menu featuring western and Balinese favourites 24 hours a day.

Discover local cooking techniques using herbs, spices and vegetables from the gardens, or visit the herb and cocktail area, where you’ll learn to make zero-waste cocktails and discover more about Balinese rice wine. The main bar is Sundara, which serves all drinks, including cocktails.
