Tranquil detox and yoga retreats on the scenic Anglesey coast

Led by British couple Ross and Neil Beckley, these detox and wellness retreats are designed to cleanse and rejuvenate both body and mind. They are held at Beaumaris, on the rugged and unspoilt island of Anglesey, an idyllic retreat setting with panoramic views across the Menai Straits to the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia. Activities include detoxing, daily yoga, meditation, scenic walks and nutrition workshops.

Queen of Retreats says:

‘The centrepiece house, “Ty Pinc” or the “Pink House”, has 16th-century origins and some stunning historic features. There’s a fabulous salon with huge bay windows that give jaw-dropping views – the perfect place for snuggling down in front of the fire. Don’t miss the coastal walks along rugged cliffs and sandy beaches, great for spotting local wildlife. Seals and seabirds, including puffins and sandpipers, are commonplace, while dolphins and porpoises can sometimes be spotted offshore’

Experiences

The supervised detox programme offers a comprehensive cleanse with fresh organic juices and soups to flush away toxins, nourish the body and mind and leave you feeling re-energised and rejuvenated.

Twice-daily yoga sessions support detoxification, with dynamic morning ashtanga flow and evening restorative yoga with breathwork. There’s also a 30-minute candlelit bedtime meditation to send you off for a good night’s sleep.

Educational workshops on nutrition and practical juicing demonstrations give you the tools you need to carry on your good work at home.

Scenic guided walks along the beautiful Anglesey coast will inspire you every morning, gradually building in intensity throughout the week. Go for an invigorating cold-water swim if you fancy a challenge, or simply relax – either in the hot tub or with a deep tissue massage.

Spaces

The retreat takes place across three houses contained within one pretty garden. The centrepiece, 16th century timbered Ty Pinc (Pink House), has been extensively renovated by an antique dealer/interior designer couple. The salon - full of art, antiques and comfy sofas - is the perfect place to snuggle with a book. Yoga takes place in front of the fireplace and two huge bay windows – set your drishti on crackling flames or panoramic views of water and mountains.

Ty Stabl (Stable House) is the other main house. Its open-plan, upside-down living and kitchen space has great views and is put to good use with communal dining, workshops and cookery/juicing demonstrations.

A third building, Tides House, contains the two apartments. High Tide is on the first floor, Low Tide on the ground. Both are spacious with their own sitting room, kitchen, period features and stunning views.

The 15 bedrooms are spread across the three properties. Ty Pinc has six. They are traditionally decorated, charming and vibrant, all ensuite, with a choice of super kings or twins. Over at Ty Stabl there are four colour-themed bedrooms, three of which are en-suite. The High Tide apartment features three super kings with lofty ceilings, including one en-suite. Meanwhile, Low Tide has two – a twin and a super king, both en-suite.

Sustenance

The juice detox retreat day starts with a warm lemon water at 6.30am, followed by an 8.30am wheatgrass shot and a 10am ginger shot and first juice. At 1pm there's a second juice, at 4pm a third juice and at 7pm a nourishing soup.

Juices are made freshly using a cold-pressed juicer and organic produce from a biodynamic farm. They are based mainly on vegetables, with a little apple and pear to sweeten. In the evening, expect grounding, freshly made, thick vegetable soups, such as flavourful roasted red pepper and tomato, creamy pumpkin or spiced cauliflower.

On other retreats, you’ll enjoy three wholesome vegetarian meals a day. Breakfast might include fresh fruit, overnight oats, smoothies, and homemade gluten-free pancakes and bread. Expect colourful salads, wraps and grains at lunchtime and nutritious soups, stir fries, Moroccan couscous, and healthy desserts at dinner.

Unlimited filtered water and organic herbal teas are available. Detox retreats are alcohol-free, while vegetarian retreats may include a wine tasting and food pairing evening.
