Beckley Retreats - Jamaica
Trelawny, Jamaica
Safe, science-backed psychedelic retreats for profound personal transformation on a glorious estate
Beckley Retreats combine the latest scientific research with ancient wisdom to take you on a psychedelic journey from which to emerge a better, happier version of yourself. Your holistic programme pivots on a five-night in-person retreat with two psilocybin ceremonies led by skilled facilitators at a charming, restored property on an ex-plantation estate at Trelawny near Wakefield, just 45 minutes from Montego Bay. It includes 10 weeks of virtual pre- and post-retreat support to create a comprehensive experience that promotes personal growth, self-discovery and long-term integration.
Queen of Retreats says:
‘The use and cultivation of psilocybin is completely legal in Jamaica, making it one of the safest and most secure places for participants to explore the properties of psilocybin. The team-to-guest ratio is high with a minimum of one facilitator for every four participants, offering plenty of emotional support and a shoulder to cry on if painful, repressed hurt needs release’
Experiences
The holistic journey combines virtual support, a transformative retreat and an integration programme to create a comprehensive experience that promotes personal growth, self-discovery and long-term integration. Participants usually form lasting connections with their retreat group, fostering ongoing support and camaraderie throughout the integration programme.
There are three phases – Prepare, Immerse and Integrate. The Prepare phase is a four-week virtual programme that lays the foundation for the real-world retreat with group sessions, personalised support and guided activities to foster connections among participants.
During the Immerse phase, a five-night retreat, you participate in two psilocybin ceremonies, yoga, breathwork, meditation and other transformational practices, facilitated by a supportive team of experts.
The Integrate phase is a six-week virtual post-retreat programme designed to help you sustain and integrate the retreat experience. It includes group sessions, daily practices, and evidence-based techniques to support lasting transformation.
If you have energy to spare, hike or run the estate’s many trails, wild swim in the river, horse ride, or head to the white sand beach just 20 minutes away to swim, kite surf, paddle board, boogie board, kayak, snorkel or fish.
Spaces
Good Hope is a beautifully restored and opulent 2000-acre ex-plantation estate with lush vegetation, mountain views and plenty of natural amenities. You are on this retreat to ask nature’s medicine to help you shift the story of your life, so being absorbed in a quiet natural setting enhances the process.
Enjoy plenty of spaces for quiet reflection, either on your own or with others. Take a walk through the forest, chill by one of the two pools or watch tropical birds from a beautifully placed chair on your veranda.
There’s also a private beach club 25-minute drive away, and a working ranch with horses, cattle and trails.
You stay in one of 14 en-suite bedrooms with air con across two villas. All have amazing views and are comfortably decorated with clean and simple finishes.
You can eat outside or in, either on communal tables or alone, to digest all aspects of your day more peacefully.
Sustenance
Meals are gourmet vegetarian with dainty salads, nourishing warm dishes and sugar-free desserts tasting better than candy. Produce is local, with oranges and coconuts grown on the estate and fish from local fishermen.
Breakfast is a sumptuous affair, including Canadian bacon, frittatas with tomatoes and thyme, banana bread, pumpkin nut muffins and toast, with Blue Mountain coffee and a selection of teas, plant milks, juices and smoothies.
A light lunch might include roasted vegetable quesadillas with squash, courgettes and goat’s cheese, papaya salsa, guacamole, veggie bean stew, breadfruit and plantain chips.
Dinner might feature curried ackee in filo pastry, jerked chicken, roasted sweet potatoes and yams, fried plantains and string beans, followed by Tortuga rum cake and homemade chocolate. If all this sounds a lot, relax – the intense nature of the work boosts your appetite.
All dietary requirements can be catered for. Alcohol is not available.
